FAQ
Q: “My child is struggling with grades. How do I know if he/she needs Special EducationServices?”
A: Difficulties with learning can sometimes be temporary or transitional; other times they are pervasive and require specific interventions. Special Education Services are designed to help students with significant cognitive delays, specific learning disabilities, or other diagnoses which prevent them from successfully learning in traditional educational settings. Parents or guardians are a student’s greatest advocate, so it’s important to understand your child’s specific needs and what services the school offers to address those needs. CEC can assist in both of those arenas.
Q: “My child’s grades are fine, but he/she seems to have behavioral difficulties at school. What can I do?”
A: Academic difficulties are not the only struggle students and families can face. Many factors impact a student’s emotional readiness to learn. Our behavioral and emotional assessments, classroom behavioral observations, and clinical interviews with family members help us understand a student’s needs. CEC has counseling services available, and we make referrals for other behavioral health services when needed.
Q: “I suspect that my child may be gifted. Can you help me learn more?”
A: Yes! Our cognitive/IQ assessments and academic achievement assessments apply to high-achieving students as well. Above-average IQ or academic achievement ability can have great advantages, as well as possible challenges. Giftedness may lead to behavioral concerns in the classroom, if the student is bored or under-challenged. Our evaluations will accurately diagnose your child’s ability, and our collaborative services with the school will help ensure that he or she receives the level of education needed.
Q: “Why don’t I see prices for evaluations?”
A: We keep our services very reasonably priced, even with years of experience and the extremely high quality we include. We don’t list prices because the varying nature of evaluation needs require tailored quotes, which we would love to give you once you contact us.
